“All my life I have been surrounded by antiques. I’m a third generation collector, both my mother and maternal grandmother were avid collectors too. As I child, we would make a pilgrimage to antiques fairs at the weekends to rummage for treasures. Vintage and antique pieces are often beautifully made with exquisite attention to detail. They have such history and deserve to be cherished. Of course, they have the added benefit of being sustainable too! I love to pepper antique finds around my home with quality contemporary pieces which I will be able to pass to my daughter, along with a passion for collecting!”

Describe your personal design style in 3 words?

Eclectic, classic and ever evolving.

Favourite room in your home?

I spend a great deal of time in my kitchen. It’s open plan and merges with our dining room and garden room at the back of the house. It’s filled with light and I work at the kitchen table, always with a diptique candle burning and a vintage vase filled with fresh flowers. I love to cook and am never happier than when pottering around in the kitchen trying out new ingredients or whipping up a favourite recipe.

What inspires you?

I’m a very visual person and my attention is often grabbed by images I see on Pinterest, Instagram and in magazines. I might take note of snippet from one photo, a colour combination perhaps, and an idea from another, such as a gallery wall arrangement or shelf styling.  We are keen to update our kitchen at the moment with antique brass fixtures and fittings, a new bracketed shelf and tongue and groove so I’m particularly drawn to kitchen companies such as deVOL and Plain English.

Your greatest home extravagance?

My home is always filled with vintage vases and decorative pieces for my business which means I am forever changing the decor on side tables and mantle pieces.

I am a great lover of flowers and would fill every one of my vases with freshly arranged frothy bouquets each week if I could.

What is on your wish list?

I would love a Salvesen Graham faux bamboo mirror and I’m coveting a pair of Georgie Wykeham scallop~topped bedside tables.

I collect vintage and contemporary ceramics and on my lust list currently is any piece by the ceramicists Katrin Moye or Emily Mitchell.

I am also always on the look out for a Fulham Pottery Constance Spry mantel vase ~ the holy grail for vintage ceramic collectors!

Your favourite interior designer (if you have one!) / interior influencer?

The list is long and exhaustive but at the core are projects by interior designer Laura Stephens  and I love the casual opulence of Skye Mcalpine. I’m very taken with the chintz and florals of Flora Soames and the subdued yet striking palette of Alice Grace. I’m an avid follower of Paula of Hill House Vintage too.  Although I live in London, I’m a country girl at heart.

Thank you so much Dorcas for inspiring and delighting us with your life and style.  For more inspiration be sure to follow Lineage London on Instagram.
