The time has arrived for a much needed summer break but before my adventure begins I am taking you on a journey to Chicago to meet Lucy Rooth.

I discovered Lucy on Instagram where her beautiful tablescapes stood out to me. She creates tables in a variety of styles:  elegant and chic, vibrant and fun. Her creations never fail to bring a smile to my face.

Blending in… Lucy has an impeccable eye for detail

It really is an honour to feature Lucy in my At Home With Style Series; a true tastemaker and homemaker who inspires and delights.

Cool blue, an elegant table in Lucy’s home

Personal design style in 3 words?

Bold, traditional, layered.

A fabulous floral creation, Lucy created this sublime riot of colour in this cool blue elegant Wedgwood Jasperware vase

Favourite room in your home?

My living room – it’s a daring cherry red color, but still very inviting.

Lucy combines unique treaures to create an eclectic look in her living room

I went a bit matchy matchy with red palampore chintz curtains, but broke up the palette with royal blue furniture and accents.  A velvet sofa and sisal rug combined with vintage built ins, a vegan leather ottoman and a high-gloss campaign dresser create a fabulous mix of textures.

Chintz, coastal stripes, ginger jars and animal prints all mingle playfully. I tucked a gilded martini table in the corner which is the perfect surface to grab when having guests over for drinks.

Drink anyone? How beautiful and practical this corner of delight is!

What inspires you?

This might be a common answer, but TRAVEL!

I always leave space in my luggage to bring things back. I especially like purchasing art wherever I go because it doesn’t take up a lot of space and reminds me of the trip when I look at it at home. I just got back from Guatemala and visited Lake Atitlan. They create these beautiful ikat textiles in the villages in the area using natural indigo dyes. One town’s signature textile was striped with hand-embroidered birds found on the lake. Each bird takes a day to embroider! The weavers and artisans are true masters.

Colourful and chic, Lucy looks fabulous on her travels

Your greatest home extravagance?

I collected a set of emerald green Waterford champagne flutes. They sit on a mirrored tray on my vintage Parisian brass bar cart. They are the perfect addition to any tablescape.

The table is set, Lucy’s gorgeous Waterford Crystal Champagne flutes perfectly co-ordinate with her tablescape

I also splurge on flowers. I love having fresh blooms. Being stuck inside in Chicago this past year, I really came to enjoy creating colorful arrangements.

Living life in colour, Lucy just radiates joy

What is on your wish list?

We adopted a pup last year on the day we were supposed to get married – which sadly canceled because of the pandemic. She’s been the best addition ever. We are in the process of moving and my wish list includes a laundry room with a dog bath. I saved a killer pic on insta from Dina Bandman interiors that has this gorgeous de Gournay blue and white wallpaper and the perfect dog bathing station!

Love is in the air, Lucy on her wedding day with her family

Your favourite interior designer or interior influencer?

Ooh! So many.  I love following designers on Instagram. Mark Sikes, Miles Redd. I love the whimsy and cinematic style Ken Fulk brings to his interiors and restaurants.

For tablescapes and parties I love Fiona Leahy, Mrs. Alice, Design Anarchy, and Sugokuii.

Thank you so much Lucy for giving us a glimpse into your life and style.  For more inspiration be sure to follow Lucy on Instagram!
