Taking trips to new places allows us the opportunity to take a break from our daily routines, and to open our minds to new experiences and influences. It allows us to develop perspectives on what we like, and what we don’t.  Simple things, such as the smell of the hand soap in beautiful guest bathrooms, or the way morning coffee is presented in chic cafes, really inspire me.  I enjoy taking all these little notes in my mind so that when I return home I reminisce, and incorporate some of these elements into my own family home.

I hope you enjoy these snapshots from my recent holiday in Venice, and feel inspired, and delighted!

In Venice it was impossible to miss Murano glass, I loved these glasses, especially the pastel shades and floral designs

Mirror, mirror on the wall.  The most magnificent handmade mirror in one of the beautiful artisan workshops in Murano

The table is set – magnificent baby blue china at the Gritti Palace – blue and white is always right!

A kid in a candy shop… so many beautiful candies and biscuits to tempt!

It was difficult not to think of Skye Mc Alpine when walking around the Rialto market…

Breakfast of champions – if only every morning could look like this!

Fresh flowers arranged so elegantly in the hotel lobby

Cafe Florian, just like stepping back in time

The most beautiful orangery – I love the orchid arrangement and think it looks so chic

And, back home, my beautiful glasses, a holiday take home treat, taking pride of place on my table for a simple weekend lunch
